TradeMarks The Spot® was started by Laurie Marshall in an effort to help entrepreneurs and small business owners protect their intellectual properties, specifically their trademarks.  Laurie has been a trademark attorney for over 15 years and has worked for several well-known Intellectual Property firms in New York City.  She also spent 10 years as Major League Baseball's in-house counsel.  She obtained both her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor Degrees from Hofstra University.

Laurie has handled a broad range of IP matters including international and domestic trademark prosecution, trademark clearance and enforcement, and licensing. She has also negotiated and drafted numerous agreements and dealt extensively with matters of opposition. Her client list includes many professional baseball and football organizations and a variety of entrepreneurs who have started their small businesses in such industries as technology, apparel, health & beauty, fitness, consulting, education, marketing & advertising and employment.

Laurie is admitted to the New York State Bar, Eastern District of New York, and Southern District of New York.

"Trademark is the best thing I ever had.  Everyday.  Trademarks make me happy.  Everyday." The words of my 6-year-old son who knows that trademarks are my passion.  I recently gave one of my toughest presentations on trademarks.... to his Kindergarten class for career day.  A few days later I was walking with my son and some of his friends and they all started pointing out trademarks to me.  Trademarks are everywhere in life and I love seeing the trademarks I clear and protect on television, in the movies, on products in stores and on signs in the city. But one of the most fulfilling parts of my job is sitting down with entrepreneurs and listening to their ideas and hearing the excitement in their voices about new business ventures.
